Hung Hom

Hung Hom is located in the southeast of the Kowloon Peninsula. It is bordered by Victoria Harbour in the south, Tsim Sha Tsui in the west, Hung Hom Bay in the east.

Before the relocation of Kowloon terminus from Tsim Sha Tsui to Hung Hom in 1974, a station named Hung Hom was located at Chatham Road South, next to the coastline of Hung Hom Bay and near Gun Club Hill Barracks.

Residential Blocks

Hung Hom serves mainly residential purposes, mixed with some industrial buildings in the north. There are several large development complexes in the area including The Harbourfront Landmark located along along the Hung Hom waterfront. This 72 storey residential and commercial building offers fabulous harbour views.

Another development, Laguna Verde, was built on Whampoa Waterfront, thus some apartments enjoy unobstructed views from Central to North Point and Victoria Harbour. Harbourfront Horizon and Harbourview Horizon All-Suite Hotel are located immediately next to Hung Hom KCR Station, and are very popular with frequent business travelers between Hong Kong to China.

Shopping

There is an integral shopping mall and residents can also go to the larger shopping centres in Whampoa Garden. Whampoa Garden is the largest private housing estate in Hung Hom, built in 1991. The estate consists of 12 complexes for residential/commercial mixed use and includes several shopping arcades, supermarkets, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.

Transportation

Hung Hom and its surrounding roads and areas continued to display signage referring to the Hung Hom transport interchange as a "Railway Terminus". The station serves as the southern terminus of both East Rail Line and West Rail Line, as well as the terminus of cross-border services with destinations to major cities in China. Whampoa Station is a new terminal station on the Kwun Tong Line of the MTR.

Since Hung Hom Station is located near the Cross Harbour Tunnel, it serves as an important transport interchange for passengers heading to and from Hong Kong Island. All cross harbor buses conveniently serve this area, with it being within walking distance. There are also ferries serving from Hung Hom Ferry Pier to North Point Ferry Pier.
