Built in 1998, Tung Chung Crescent is a development of 8 multi-storeyed blocks. Phase 1 is located right next to the Tung Chung MTR station and consists of blocks 1-3. Phase 2 has blocks 5-9 with gorgeous views of the airport, the Tsing Ma bridge, the Nong Ping cable car and sea & mountain views.
The development has a lovely resort style outdoor pool, a comprehensive clubhouse with a gym, fitness room, squash and tennis courts, children's play room, reading lounge and other facilities. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and the famous Citygate outlet mall with tons of brands being sold at discounted prices is always busy. UA cinema is right down below with a spectacular food court.
This development is excellent for families, especially those with young children, who can be seen enjoying the musical water fountain most evenings. There is a direct train from IFC to Tung Chung which goes through Kowloon station and takes no more than 30 minutes. It is also connected to other parts of Hong Kong on the MTR via major interchange stations and enjoys a very good public bus network.
Tung Chung District Information
Originally a major defence stronghold against pirates and invading navies, it boasts an old fort, complete with cannons, and several temples. Primarily a fishing village, Tung Chung is now a metropolis of high-rise buildings and shopping malls. Since the airport re-location was announced, many large high-rise developments have proliferated here, together with a small number of new houses and an increasing number of local, village houses at the periphery. Rents are generally more reasonable than on Hong Kong Island, and it is a convenient location for frequent travellers.
